Auchan Poland and Intermarché are starting a purchasing alliance.

Auchan Polska and Intermarche have formed a purchasing alliance and want to create joint purchasing structures for the next 10 years. Both chains applied to the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection for consent to consolidation.

The partners expect that their cooperation will translate into strengthening relationships with suppliers – by expanding their business prospects, as well as increasing the attractiveness of the prices of the products offered as a result of combining the purchasing power of both brands. The final beneficiaries of the established alliance will be Polish consumers, who will gain access to a wider range of products at prices that allow them to manage their household budgets more efficiently.

Intermarché and Auchan Polska intend to become equal owners of newly established legal entities, which, as central purchasing units, will represent both chains in talks with suppliers. If the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection consents to the fusion, a binding agreement will be concluded between the networks by the end of Q3 this year.
