CONAD opens the first checkout-free supermarket in Italy in Verona
Trentino cooperative Dao’s customers will be able to take products from the shelves and then leave without passing through a checkout. Plans are already in place for a second. Intelligent cameras and scales will recognize what is selected by each customer, who will then be able to view purchases on special displays once they reach the payment area. Here the payment will take place exclusively digitally: it will be possible to pay with credit and debit cards from all banks.
For the technological development of this innovative store, Dao worked with Sensei, a Portuguese tech company that has already managed the opening of autonomous stores in Europe and South America.
The new Prende&Vai in Verona promises a new way of shopping in the Tuday Conad format. Dao has in fact created a space where technology is conceived as a tool at the service of traditional shopping. On the one hand, AI helps to make shopping more convenient and faster, and on the other it helps the company to improve the understanding of purchasing habits in the specific store, allowing those who manage it to adapt the assortment to real needs. In any case, unlike the cashierless stores already open in the rest of the world, staff will always be present at the Conad Take&Go Tuday in Verona, trained to assist and accompany customers in this innovative experience
