Corona crisis turns Belgians into home cooking chefs

A recent research from GfK shows that Belgian consumers are cooking more at home and eating more fresh fruit and vegetables. The Corona lockdown, in addition to the extra leisure time it has brought, has consequently moved Belgian consumers’ interest towards a healthier lifestyle.

During the first two weeks of the corona lockdown, almost every Belgian (96%) prepared home-cooked meals and 20% ate less ready- meals. Belgians did not only become home cooks, they also paid extra attention to eating healthy. About one out of four Belgians claims to have had more fresh fruit and vegetables than before. One out of five Belgians is also planning to buy more fresh fruit and vegetables in the coming weeks. We are eager to find out whether this is a trend that will persist in the coming weeks.
