Flexitarians Looking For More Plant-Based Chicken When They Eat Out
Research conducted by Quorn has found that over half of flexitarians (52%) eat out at least once a week – and 40% of them eat plant based at least half the time when they select their meals. Plant-based burgers are the most popular item, but consumers would like more alternative chicken products to be available.
Retail volumes of meat-fee products were up 15% in 2022 on the previous year’s Veganuary (this year’s Veganuary signed up 629,000 people worldwide). Meat alternatives now account for ca 2% of the total meat, fish and poultry category and are purchased by 9% of households, according to the AHDB, who add that growth of meat and dairy alternatives slowed in the first 3 weeks of the year.
