Green Seed experts share export advice with Belgian food companies
On Wednesday 11th of February, Belgian food companies and Green Seed market experts from across Europe, the USA and the Middle East gathered in Brussels for the Food Export Forum. The event provided practical information, tips, and insights into international trends, helping companies capitalise on export opportunities. More than 85 professionals from the Belgian food industry attended and received tailor-made advice from Green Seed.
In today’s fast-moving global economy, Belgian companies must constantly adapt. New import tariffs, geopolitical shifts and other challenges make export increasingly complex. During the Food Export Forum, organised by Fevia, the Federation for the Belgian Food Industry, companies received answers to their most pressing questions.
Panel Discussion: Global Trends and Opportunities
The event opened with a panel discussion featuring Green Seed Group experts from the United Kingdom and North America, Simon Waring and Sanjay Panchal, together with Audrey Ashworth, Event Director of SIAL. The panel explored global trends and how companies can respond effectively.
A striking trend discussed was the impact of GLP-1 medication in the United States and how it is reshaping American eating habits. The panel also highlighted the increasingly blurred line between retail and foodservice channels, particularly in snacking. Once again, it was clear that having local expertise is essential for successful export.
Keynote speaker Nicolas Colanbeen, Delhaize Director Fresh Sourcing & Strategic Partners, explained how Belgian food companies can drive international growth through the Ahold Delhaize organisation. Or on how a sound home market offers opportunities abroad.
Tailor-Made Advice in One-on-One Meetings
More than 100 one-to-one meetings between Green Seed Group offices and Belgian food companies provided bespoke advice on export strategies. Consultants from all offices worldwide travelled to the event specifically to assist both established exporters and start-ups with their international growth plans.
For companies looking to expand beyond Belgian borders, the event offered concrete insights into challenges, pitfalls and opportunities. Philip Horemans, Chairman of Green Seed Group, reflects:
“Beyond strategic insights, we provided participating companies with concrete and actionable advice. This hands-on approach allows food professionals to immediately apply the knowledge to their own export strategies.”
