Private label prices rising faster than A-brands

According to research bureau NielsenIQ, the prices of private labels have increased more rapidly than the prices of A-brands in the Dutch market. Nielsen’s research measured over more than 37,000 branded and own label products shows that prices have increased by an average of 5.9% compared to the same period last year.

For private label, the increase is 6.3% while A-brands have become 5.7% more expensive. The price of fresh products increased by 6.9% compared to the same period last year. Other groceries like preserves, pasta, soup, rice and sauces showed the highest price increase of 7.8%, while price inflation to date this year has been lowest in non-food grocery.
